July 11

This morning, the choir will begin our time of worship with a song entitled, "No Rocks A-Cryin'." This is a reference to when Jesus entered Jerusalem. The religious leaders didn't want the people making such a big deal, because they were jealous. But Jesus said, "If they keep quiet, the stones will cry out (Luke 19:37-40)." The praise of God and His glory is unstoppable. God's creation must declare praise to Him. If we try to suppress true worship, we will find all around us that the things God has made "pour forth speech" about His wonder and power. Trying to silence praise is like stopping the ocean tide with your hands. When we give God praise, we are doing what our heart most deeply desires, and we are doing what will satisfy us more than anything else.

SONGS:
Indescribable - A joyful song that pours forth speech about God and his glory. "None can fathom...you are amazing God!"

All Hail the Power of Jesus' Name (His Name is Jesus) - A modern arrangement of the classic hymn. We continue a cosmic sense of worship - an immense, immeasurable God deserves grand and sweeping language: "All creation sings the praise of Jesus' name!"

We Fall Down - A song that is a response to worshiping God in all his splendor. As John the Baptist realized, He must increase, and we must decrease. Jesus must be lifted up, and to make much of Jesus necessitates that we turn from self-promotion. "We lay our crowns at the feet of Jesus..."

We will close with the hymn "Praise to the Lord, the Almighty." I hope that this Sunday's worship will help you to see God in his holiness, and to see that if we praise God fully, with our hearts and lives, we will find ourselves fulfilled and at rest in His presence.
